Important Notice
Refunds for municipal tax payments are subject to verification and approval by Nagar Nigam Aligarh authorities. Not all payments may be eligible for refund.
1. Eligibility for Refunds
Refunds may be considered in the following circumstances:
- Duplicate payments - When the same tax is paid multiple times
- Overpayments - When amount paid exceeds the actual tax due
- Assessment errors - When tax is calculated incorrectly by the system
- Technical errors - When payment is processed but not reflected in records
2. Non-Refundable Payments
The following payments typically cannot be refunded:
- Payments made for correct tax amounts
- Payments where taxpayer error caused the issue
- Payments older than 6 months from the date of payment
- Processing fees (if applicable)
3. Refund Process

Submit Refund Request
File a request through the portal or at Nagar Nigam office within 15 days of payment

Provide Documentation
Submit payment receipts, transaction details, and supporting documents

Verification Process
Nagar Nigam officials will verify the claim (may take 15-30 working days)

Approval/Rejection
You will be notified of the decision via email/SMS

Refund Processing
Approved refunds will be processed within 15 working days
4. Processing Time
- Initial response: 3-5 working days
- Verification: 15-30 working days
- Refund issuance: 15 working days after approval
Complex cases may require additional time.
5. Refund Methods
Refunds will be issued through the original payment method when possible:
- Online payments: Credited back to source account
- Bank transfers: Processed via NEFT/RTGS
- Cash payments: Refunded via cheque or bank transfer
Note
Bank processing times may affect when the refund appears in your account. Service charges (if any) are not refundable.
6. Disputes & Appeals
If your refund request is denied:
- You may appeal within 30 days of denial
- Submit additional supporting documents
- Appeals will be reviewed by senior officials
- Final decisions will be communicated in writing
